Does it make sense to SAN boot infrastructure servers like Citrix DDC, PVS , Xenapp, SQL servers, Hypervisor Host in a VDI environment?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

It can if you want to be able to move the OS to a new piece of hardware quickly. However SAN storage is very expensive compared to local storage so take that into account when making the decision.

Hi Thanks for the response. I am looking at around 8000 to 10000 streamed virtual desktops via PVS . With OS being in the SAN will this create any additional impact on the storage in terms of IOPs ? Also ( if quick movement of OS is not taken into account ) will use of local storage provide any performace advantage in comparison to SAN boot or both would provide the same level of performance?
