So my original Ethernet Port in my Alienware Aurora r4 I'm pretty sure got fried because I didn't have any surge protectors, so I removed my wireless port in my PC and put in another ethernet port there. But my internet runs great when its not disconnecting and it only disconnects to my Desktop. It either tells me the connection between your access point, router or cable modem and the internet is broken or cannot find DNS server. Please help.

Software/Hardware used:
Alienware Aurora R4

Assuming here Ethernet cable meant, LAN cable/wire. Is it an office/or your personal? If it is an office environment, you can ask the same to the person who takes care about the systems like network admin/sys admin. S/he is the best person to help you.

"...and it only disconnects to my Desktop."

What does that mean? "Disconnect to desktop" makes no good sense. Does it mean that whatever you're running closes and you're left with just your desktop showing?

When a disconnect happens, can you reconnect? Does your Ethernet port still show active (LED)?

Is your cable ok? What is your router settings for the Ethernet port?
