Virus affecting Default Input Language – Repair

A client of mine appears to have a infection of malware. The client is getting the "chinese" letters as per language no matter what language is chosen. Wondering what needs to be done to restore that portion.  Virus removal is in process but looking for anything additional that may help resolve this issue.

Windows 2003 SP2, HP Proliant ML Series
