Dead battery on APC Smart-UPS 1400
The UPS has died - no lights, no beeps, and the fan is out. I know the battery was dying. So I'm sure it's dead. But is it normal for all the lights, fan to not function when the battery dies eventhough the unit is plugged in? I really don't want to buy the battery and find out that it's the unit is dead too. TIA.

Answer Wiki:
With an APC UPS, a dead or non-charging battery will alarm and there will be an indicator light to that effect. If there is no electrical activity at all (no lights/no sound) even after plugging the unit int a KNOWN GOOD A/C outlet, I would suggest obtaining a new unit. At times APC offers trade ins: perhaps you could minimize the cost by taking advantage of their trade in / trade up program?

I recently got the same model UPS and it’s batteries are also on it’s last legs.

I would reset the UPS Circuit Breaker and verify that the battery is properly plugged in. According to APC the unit might not turn on if the Battery is not properly connected.

Good luck.
