I have 2 identical programs sending data to 2 remote systems. The only difference is the the DDM file points to a different box. Program A works fine to state A. Program B fails daily to state B. The error I am getting sending to state B is a CPI9161. Database TCP/IP or local socket connection ended. The joblog also has this info DDM communications ended abnormaly. DDM communications request failed. Cannot assign or release DDM file (s). File MYFILE in MYLIB not available. Here is the strange thing. If I look for object locks, while the job has halted, none are found. If I cut and paste the line of code to a command line and run it manually it works fine. I run this command under the same profile that the job is scheduled under. I give the halt an 'I' to ignore, the rest of the DDM files in the CLP are copied with out further problems. The host system is an i-Series running V6R1M1. The state A system is an i-Series running V5R4M5. The state B system is an i-Series running V6R1M1. Any ideas as to where to look ? Thanks

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Not sure, but check the user profiles on the job schedule entries. Make sure they are set the same on both boxes. And, I think that they should have a directory entry – WRKDIRE

I agree with charlie brown, creat yoıur cl with log(*yes) than trace it again and find out all of errors. you can solve it easyly..

and on the other hand, You can look digital books of IDM search error in IBM library.

Take care..

The user is the same on all 3 boxes. It's strange you can do it manually using the same profile, but not by a CL job in the JOBSCDE. Yet all the other DDM copies in the same CL will run without an issue.

Check the object authority of the target files. Both the DDM object and the actual file on the remoter boxes. Comapre the results for the one that does work with one that does work.

The files on all 3 boxes have the same authority and object owner. I can do the copy from a command line. It's just that one particular file that won't copy from inside a CL running from the JOBSCDE.. Still open to other sugesstions.. Thanks again

Can you run the batch job with detail logging to see if you get any other information. LOG(4 00 *SECLVL) LOGCLPGM(*YES)

The error I am getting sending to state B is a CPI9161. Since the error appears to be on state B, what messages show up there? Tom

Is this the first file in the list to copy? Can you move it in the list? Is it a *replace? Is there a logical attached? I am interested in the outcome of this problem. Do let us know...

Looks like it's working now. Moved the first file, the one that would not copy, to the last file copy in the CL program and made one other small change. It looks like there was a job on the target system to end all job locks on the production data to run the nightly backups. I delayed the start time the job runs by 15 minutes. It looks like it may have been ending the service that handle the DDM files. Thanks to all for your suggestions !

Great!!! I'm glad to hear that. See, you had your stuff correct. It was something else that didn't play well. Since this job ends things for the backup and you have changed the runtime for it, you may need to consider also changing the runtime for the backup so everything will be ended when the backup kicks off.
