DC power in the data center
Hi, I'm Peter Bochner, site editor for SearchStorage.com, and I;'m researching a story on electrical power, storage arrays and the data center. My question is a basic one, but I'm having a hard time finding an answer. Only some storage arrays are available with DC power supplies, and these for the most part are targeted at telcos and the military, rather than data centers. Servers with DC power options seem to be much more common. But is it the case that servers come in either AC or DC power versions, or are servers equipped to handle either? And what about networking gear, such as switches and routers?
