DB2 DBA to SAP Career

SAP careers

HI,

I've been a DB2 DBA-UDB LUW for the past 8 years. I'd like to switch to SAP. I've been advised by my friend to get trained in BASIS & Security modules , as he believes that would be the best situation for me. However, my research in searchsap.com suggests that BASIS is a dying area. Can someone advise me on the best route for my SAP career ?
I don't know much about SAP.

Thanks
LT

Hi LT

I am not able to understand how your research has indicated that Basis is dying. If SAP is used, Basis would definitely be required, I expect.

If you find other areas of SAP more interesting or appealing, then you should look into them more in detail. I expect for a person who has been a DBA, you may look into BW, CRM, Netweaver, etc. Then you may see how you can acquire those skills and get into a job. Ideally if you can convince an employer to train and employ you, it would be good. Even if you start at a lower income, it would be good considering long term goals.

Hope this helps. All the best!!! I appreciate people looking for challenges and trying to improve !
