I'm a novice at VB5. I've written a small subroutine to retrieve the current date. I want to learn how to extract the year as an integer for another subroutine.  Any help would be appreciated.

Software/Hardware used:
Windows Vista and VB5

Hi,

You can use Year function to retrieve the year from a given Date:

Dim dTmp As Date
dTmp = DateValue(Now)
intYear = Year(dTmp)

Now intYear has the year number value.

Regards.

    I think I've got my syntax right. It's been a VERY long time since I've looked at VB.
    private function GetYear()
        return year(now)
    end function
