Answer Wiki:
@MS Ashura, according to ur background, u may proceed for Database Management Courses for global certifications. There several global certifications like DBA from Oracle, MCTS from Microsoft on Sql Server 2008 / MCDBA or MySql certifications and so on. Amongst them, I prefer OCP, coz at present Oracle takes the lion share of the market. To earn the Oracle DBA u have to do OCP there r two parts: a) for Developer & b) DBA Administrator. For DBA it requires passing two examinations: Any one of the following SQL exams: Introduction to Oracle SQL, Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals, or Oracle Database SQL Expert and Oracle Database 11g-Administration Remember, These r only available thru Oracle University or a Prometric testing center. But.... always consult with ur nearest persons or if possible talk with expert who is nearby u. Here providing some links.... For MySql Certification For MCTS/MCDBA Certification For General Concept, please visit HERE For Oracle Certification AND also look HERE Good Luck !

Agreed, look for a qualification in either Microsoft SQL or Oracle. I’ve got experience in both but have more experience in Oracle. Oracle SQL Developer as mentioned above is a good way to start!
