change the DDS to include the new field, and use
    CHGPF FILE(datalib/pf009) SRCFILE(srclib/srcfile)
    instead of
    CRTPF FILE(datalib/pf009) SRCFILE(srclib/srcfile)

Do you also want the LF to have the new field? Tom

CHGPF can add a field to a PF in a single step without losing the data. If the LF needs the new field, there are two alternatives that depend on how the LF is defined. The LF will have the new field if the field list is implicitly defined. But if the fields are explicitly listed, the new field will not be added to the LF until the LF is recompiled to include the new field in the field list. Tom
