I am trying to transfer a file from the AS400 to Excel and I am losing some of my data. I am transferring several files (each with 50,000 records) into Excel using a Client Access icon in Excel (I believe Client Access). When I attempt to transfer the data, I receive error messages and a portion of my records is cutt off. Each record contains 36 demand fields. When I get my data into excel, I only have 14 of these demand fields. The error messages that I get are as follows: "Error occurred during Data Conversion". "Data in this field exceeds PC field Size. Data will be lost". How do I prevent losing my data?

Daniel wrote in with this advice:

“Transferring into Excel gets tricky when transferring very large files. Excel cannot handle more than 65,000 records (rows). Your best bet is to use CPYTOIMPF to transfer to a .csv (comma separated variable) file in a shared folder within IFS on the iSeries.”
