Data center racks: Is it easier to work in lighter colored racks?
We're in the process of securing new racks for our data center, and I remember having difficulty working with dark colored racks, especially in the back. If we use lighter colored racks will it solve that problem? I was thinking it wouldn't absorb as much light and improve visibility when we have to work it. Does anyone have experience with this or know where I can find research material supporting this?

Answer Wiki:
Yeah darker color racks are harder to see in so a light colored rack would improve your visibility by lighting up the inside a little more. I just had another light I used to help me see by putting it aimed down into the rack. Oh and here is some products that might help. http://www.rackmountsolutions.net/rackmount_Light.asp http://cableorganizer.com/computer-cabinets/rack-mount-lights.html http://www.rackmountsolutions.net/Server_Rack_Cabinet_%20Entry.asp

yeah i admit that with black racks, its harder to see the inside racks….that is what i face in the DC. if the racks is bigger and more holes and etc, and if the light can penetrate thru then its ok
