Data and Variables in SPSS from Excel spreadsheet
have an Excel spreadsheet with responses to questions from a 49 question survey. At the top of the spreadsheet I listed each variable that the questions address. When I transfer this to the data page in SPSS, it lists the variables on the variable page with sequential letters after each variable - e.g. - invA, invB, invC, etc. rather than just listing the one inv. Is this correct in that the variables are listed separately for each question? I had already entered the variables and other information on the variable view page, but when I transferred the Excel file to the data page, it entered different variables. Any help with this will be appreciated.
