Customizing Devices and Printers in Windows 7
Can you hide the devices in Devices and Printers in Windows 7 Professional. Or can you revert the menu back to the XP Pro look that just showed printers when you click the printers and faxes from the Start Menu. I don't want to use the method of using group policy to remove printers and devices altogether and then creating a registry entry to point an icon on the desktop to access only Printers. I want the solution to be an option on the Start Menu as it looks much better in a lab environment. Thanks for your help

Answer Wiki:
Try out this.... 1. Right click on Start button & select Properties 2. It opens Taskbar And Start Menu Properties, click on Customize button 3. The Customize Start Menu dialog that opened contains all the settings and options try to find "Devices And Printers" checkbox, near the top. 4. If it is checked, make it uncheck & click OK to apply the setting and again click OK Now, check by clicking start button. There is another way ! U can install XP MODE / Windows Virtual PC in Windows 7. Visit Windows 7 Compatibility Center to find software that works with Windows 7. Thanks !

Skenny, are you looking for a way to implement this in the entire domain?

As long as the administrator could access this Devices and printers section then it could be changed/restricted/hidden for all other useres.
