 ctrl alt del popup picture
Alright, this is going to sound strange...but here goes...My friend said his partner got into his laptop and now everytime he clicks the Ctrl+Alt+Del keystrokes, he gets a popup picture. The normal security window opens, but when the computer is locked, everytime he moves the cursor, the popup comes back. I know this is an easy fix, but I can't remember how to get this to stop. (I believe he's on Windows 2K Professional) Can anyone help me get this picture to stop popping up while the computer is locked?? Thanks!

What does the popup picture looks like or say? Do you have a screen shot?

It’s just a photo from his digital camera that he loaded into the laptop and stored there. He’s done it with other photos before, too. So it’s not the specific image that I need to stop, it’s just the actual popup. Once I remember how to get rid of it, I can keep him from putting others in the same place.

As far as I can tell, I believe it’s just a directory file somewhere.

When the computer is locked it will display the LOGON SCREEN otherwise known as the WELCOME SCREEN.. Have you tried DELETING this offending image?? Doesn’t help if you don’t know what operating system he is using… as recommendations will be OS specific..

Ok. He is on Win XP Pro. Does anyone know where a photo would have to be stored to make it appear everytime the computer locks or everytime ctrl+alt+del is used??? It’s not just the desktop image, or the standard wallpaper. This is a photo that pops up along with the security window.

Which welcome/logon screen is he using? The normal default Welcome screen? if so search for logonui.exe and replace it with another one from another xp system. Alternatively you can use tweakui and put your own picture in there.
