User running Notes 8.5. When he opens his mail (either on server or local) he gets "An error has occurred. Some things to check" message. It goes on to say to check & delete mail rules (there are none) or mail file is over quota (it's nowhere near quota). Tried re-creating his local mail, but no luck. Any suggestions? This is very frustrating

First thing to check is the ID he is using to access the mail file. File > security > user security (if memory is correct).

Is the database encrypted? either by the server or the user?

    Run a

    FIXUP -j -i

    Compact -D

    Updall -r

This should check the DB for any issues.

The above should check for server side issues.

Client side - recreate the Bookmarks.nsk, Cache, dsk and recreate the Names.nsf.

    good luck
