Definitely check out FileZilla but also VanDyke Software for secure file transfers. System monitoring is a whole different beast. There are tons of solutions out there but so many options so you need to determine what exactly you’re wanting to accomplish first. Any specifics?

For several years I successfully used VanDyke’s tools for secure remote access and FTP, found the easy to use and easy to deploy. From my perspective I highly recommend them.

Again, it depends on what you’re looking for, but if it’s of any value check out Nagios for your system monitoring. It’s open source and free and I’ve heard good things about it from my clients and others.

I’d check out Webmin.
I’m using it on linix distro’s to perform pretty much all admin functions.
I don’t know if it supports Mac’s.
