If you want to create a flat file - CRTPF with record length.  If you want a data base file - CRTPF with a DDS file description.  In SQL - use CREATE TABLE (use F4 to set up field(s)/field type/size.

If you are in QDDSSRC Libraray , simply Press F6, Then you will see a window, give the appropriate parameters over there. and Press Enter keyword. It will create One for you.

QDDSSRC is the name IBM uses for physical source files that contain DDS source members. (It's usually not a "library", but you could create a library with that name. It wouldn't be a good name to use.) . If you are using PDM and you are "in" QDDSSRC, it would mean that you are in a list of members in QDDSSRC. Pressing F6 would create a new member, not a new file. . You can use PDM to create a PF, but it simply causes PDM to bring up a list of commands that begin with CRT^. You still have to choose CRTPF from the list and use it. . Tom

This is better, Sai4AS400, you can add to the knowledge base as well as draw from it. Program Development Manager - Member A member, contains the rules to create a file. If the member has been created then Option 14 would be used to Create a PF or CRTPF can be used.
