 Creating an overlay for v6.1
We are converting to an iSeries v6.1 and want to eliminate our track-feed printers. We have been told we can create overlays in Microsoft Publisher and have this "merge" with the spool file (invoices, purchase order, etc). I need step by step instructions in how to set this up. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Answer Wiki:
Who Told you? What - Exactly - would they have you do? Did they demonstrate this? Or was it just some sales pufffery to get you to buy Publisher - or whatever? Your starting point is IBM.com and the manuals about printing, redbooks and the rest.

What do you really want to do? What type of overlay do you want or need? Working on v5r4 but can maybe help you further if you can give more details.

IBM provides the tool you need to convert a PC document into an overlay that works on the iSeries. This site gives a good overview of the process and points to other resources.

We use this feature to print invoices, order acknowledgements, AP checks and more.

It is not as complicated as it sounds. It works well and the price is right.

The site did not make it into my message. Here it is in plain text.
