Hi I am a system administrator and we are expected to make remote branch, all it matters is on my best solution I provide, else its gonna be in pipe, the question is to create IP addressing schemes for the Site B and Site A (main). All departments need to be in separate subnets. The external IP address for Site A is 87.1.1.1/24, and for Site B it is 76.1.1.6/24. I am suppose to use IP version 4 private addressing ranges within our networks (your choice as to which ones) and show how Network Address Translation (NAT) and Port Address Translation (PAT) could be used to enable the connection of the external sites.

 SITE A :

Finance (7 users)

Cust Services (12 users)

International Exam (4 users)

UK exams (4 users)

IP phones (20 users)

IP data (20 users)

Management (10 users)

 Site B :

Admin (20 users)

Cust Services (12 users)

Mobile workers (25 users)

Finance (1 user)

Also  help me in choosing what LAN switching technology could be used to separate the subnets from each other within the client sites.

What is "IP data (20 users)"? Without some clarification, that seems a little odd as a separate subnet within an addressing scheme with internet connectivity. -- Tom

Let me take notes while i'm reading this. First of all, this is a simple task for VLSM. IP Phones for site A should have QOS of course. As far as the sites communicating, you mentioned the public IP's You could do it that way via VPN etc...or something like Frame Relay. Switching, any standard Cisco, HP etc.. is going to have functionality for VLAN switching. Does this business plan on expanding at all? These schemes seem awfully small. Paul

If you want to use VLSM you can do it manually (not so difficult- but for the lazy one's the are tools on the internet that calculate the IP's i just a second. just google VLSM calculator
