creating a user in oracle 8
Hello
I am doing a project and i want to practice or test a different senerios in my project which is in d2k and oracle 8, here my problem is ,
problem 1)
in my system oracle is installed and i want to create a new user but it is not allowing me to enter as system/manager and in past i had created a user of mine with this same system but this time this is not allowing then how i can solve my problem
problem 2)
another question is i want to know the oracle internal structure and related views,system tables so that i can give answers to any type of oracle internal problems or any queries as when is a value in a perticular column of any table of any schema is updated or modified etc.,
please give a solution

For problem 1, try entering 'sqlplus internal'. You need to be logged on as the oracle account do do this, if you're on UNIX. If you're on Windows, you'll need to do it from a DOS prompt. Make sure you set your ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID environment variables.
For problem 2, the Oracle data dictionary views are documented in the oracle database documentation. There's too many of them to list here. You can download this doco from technet.oracle.com.

More info required on logging to System/Manager
1. Are you able to log in any other user
2. Have u created user before installing D2K
and now you are trying to create it after
installing D2K
3. If 2 is true — try to logon with the sqlplus
in the bin directory of D2K installation probably
orawin95 or Orant or any other user named directory
4. Try out Sys/change-on-install
