Creating a chart for alphabetic data and date ranges

I am trying to put together a chart that reflects application deadlines for roughly two dozen clients for the company I work for. Some of these clients have two or three different deadlines to reflect the multiple testing windows these clients have throughout the year. Essentially, I am trying to graphically depict application deadlines for the clients throughout the year to identify overlaps to better project staffing needs for the company. I have tried to setup a chart with the months of the year on one axis, the clients on another axis, and then create a simple bar-chart with the application deadlines. The problem I keep running into is that the data I have is alphabetic, not numeric. Is there a way to create what I am going for here? If so, could someone point me to a resource that would walk me through this process? Thank you!

Have you tried using the DATEVALUE("date text") function to change the text dates into numerics dates?

Can you share the format or example of the data - assuming you meant it for the date field.

Many thanks to tlsanders1 for the suggestion on using the function DATEVALUE to supplement dates for numerical values that Office uses to reference dates. Forgive the loss of formatting, I was unable to find where I could upload a copy of the excel file I am working on. Here is a sample set of the kind of data I am working on: Application Deadline Dates January February March April May June July August September October November December RNCB 1-May 1-Nov NYSED Pharmacy 1-Apr 1-Nov NYSED Massage 1-Jun 1-Nov MRCC 15-Apr 15-Sep 15-Dec ETA 1-Apr 1-Oct CLP 1-Mar 1-Sep ACR 1-Apr 1-Sep AADE 1-May 1-Nov For the most part I got the graph generated from the data above, my challenge now is to figure out how to incorporate date ranges for the dates each of these clients have set for candidates to schedule, stacked on the current graph. For example, RNCB has June 1 through June 30 to be able to schedule and December 1 to December 31 to be able to schedule exam dates. Perhaps I can just repeat the client list below on the same table an use the same DATAVALUE function for the date range?
