Does anyone knows how to create a linked server in Sql 2000 regarding a database to Sql 2005. All I want to do is a selection from a table in sql 2005 and insert into a table in Sql 2000

Thanks in Advance

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You should be able to just create a linked server like you would to another SQL 2000 server. Are you getting an error message?

Identify the linked server as an instance of Microsoft SQL Server. If u use this to defining.... the name specified in Linked server must be the network name of the server. Also, any tables retrieved from the server are from the default database defined for the login on the linked server. It can be done by providing grant (T-SQL statements) to the same user/login name and create a linked server from SQL Server 2005 instance to SQL Server 2000 instance by running SSMS !
