when iam running the command on command line its working fine What command do you run on a command line? It can't be the command that you showed since that contains CL variables. how can i know the CCSID of from and to file in that CPYTOIMPF. One simple possibility for your join LF is to run DSPFFD against it. Each field should show a CCSID value if the attribute is appropriate for the field. Also, run DSPFD against the underlying PFs to see what CCSIDs are associated with the file objects. The CCSID values will be identified as Coded Character Set Identifier. For a streamfile, run DSPLNK against it and take option 8=Display attributes. The CCSID will be identified as Coded character set ID. It's often easiest simply to let CPYTOIMPF create the target streamfile. It can use your STMFCODPAG() parameter to create it with the value that you supply. Tom
