Please provide more information about specific errors. What tftp server are you using? Pumpkin is a good tftp server/client.
I indicated that I,m using solar winds and cisco tftp server. None of them give me a transfer of file to laptop. I have tried a crossover and straight thru cable. With straight thru I can ping my laptop from console connection. This is all I know. Again error is :::unbale to open target tftp server and gives my laptops static IP address of 192.168.30.2. Undefined error. I have already stated the above. This is all I know.
sorry I thought I had specified undefined error. I had not my apologies. I have been at this for two days off and on and I cannot get the file to transfer. I follow the script given to me in the cisco training class. For some reason I cannot copy to my laptop. I dont know why. I have a strait thru and crossover cable and none work. I have tried solar winds and cisco tftp server and they dont work. For some reason the path and destination file cannot be opened. I tried to open the port for tftp but it seems it is open. I have no idea why this wont work. It just doesn’t make any sense.
Don’t use the Console Port. Connect your TFTP server to the network and ping to your local network address from the router. If the router can ping to your laptop IP, you should be fine to run COPY TFTP FLASH.
Make sure the Cisco IOS image file is in the TFTP folder, and that you are using the entire name of the file.
