Q:
copy 1.2 GB mdb from pc to network
When copying 1.2 GB mdb from pc to network, it seems that the copy created in the network is corrupted although I am not able to tell by looking at the size of the file. Does anyone have an experience of copying a big mdb file from pc to network?

I would try using a program such as the windows xcopy or this third party xxcopy that can be found here:
http://www.xxcopy.com/index.htm

if your system does not have xcopy on it you can find it here:

http://www.uv.tietgen.dk/staff/mlha/Download/dos/#XCOPY

I have also had luck with robpcopy from Microsoft which is located here: http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9d467a69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffd

Any of these programs are great with large batches of files or large files there are switches on how to handle errors and what not.

What is the speed of the network you are transfering over? What is the Operating System?

Is the file open on another workstation? Another thing to try is zip the file and then copy the zip file and see if the copied file is still corrupt. If it is then there may be a network problem that needs further diagnosis.

Hi I didn’t use zip file. Perhaps if I zipped it, it will aviod the problem. However, I posted my question because I just want to know if there is any known problem in MS Access in which a large MDB file (1 to 2 GB) is copied from PC to network or vice versa may potentially cause a problem to the database.

I’ve zipped and moved access databases repeatedly with no problems — I
