Hi,
I need to control my user's access to different sites. for example user1 should be able to access www.yahoo.com on providing username/password, where user2 should be denied (or get password from Admin... :-) ), in otherwords the software can keep the profiles of different user to access my Gateway.
What proxy server/Firewall would give me such facility?
any help and guidence would be really appriciated.
Thanks
There are lot of firewall and proxy solutions that offer that type of functionality. The ones I have used and trusted based on experience are Checkpoint FW-1 and Watchguard. I have also heard good things about Microsoft ISA server, but haven't used it personally.

If you live outside the United States, by submitting your email address you consent to having your personal data transferred to and processed in the United States.
Practically every WWW proxy out there would be able to offer you user authentication, which is what you’re looking for.
You’ve got web proxies in all shapes and forms, from the free DIY to the very expensive commercial ones, from hardware appliances to software-based, from stand-alone to fully all-in-one integrated products, from Linux/Unix to Windows… If you give us an approximate budget and/or number of users, I would be able to recommend specific free and commercial products. Send PM if you prefer.
I would add to the other quality answers already offered, that you should consider the load that the system will be placed under. You may not want to leverage the firewall for this purpose if you have a lot of users and will be doing many user-specific policies for Internet access. Getting a separate device dedicated to this type of outbound management might be more beneficial.
Microsoft ISA server works really well, Symantec makes a really nice web security product and depending on the availability of your time and your skill level there are a many others.
If you are on a tight budget, there is a free solution available with http://www.handcraftedsoftware.org. Their Freeproxy has almost all the features you are asking for. I dont know about scalability.
hi
ISA server of MS can do the job providing you set the integration option, so ISA knows if the user has been authenticated or not
i would plug in some URL filtering that is maid to do the job
send me private and can advise you on a specific product i work with
