 Control of Spool Files Actions
Is it possible to change the options available on the CHGSPLFA command. I would like to have more restrictions on what a user can do with a spooled file after printing it. Currently they can SAVE the file after printing and this includes invoice files, dispatch notes etc. which could possibly be fraudulently reprinted. Thanks Tom

Answer Wiki:
Tomotsk, Do a Create Duplicate Object, CRTDUPOBJ, and then you can change the command defaults on the duplicate command. Hope this helps, Bill Poulin

We don’t let users have access to invoices at all…. not even the people that created the spool files….

We have a couple of spool file utilities (SOQ and TAATOOL) that use a command called DUPSPLF. They can be used to duplicate the spool file to another user profile and then we delete the original. We use the TAATOOL version in our invoice program….. the user can not see the invoice (or do anything else for that matter) as a spool file because it’s now under a different User name following the duplication and removal of the original We still know who created the spool file by moving the User into the User Data portion of the spool file.

Hi,

You could also try removing *SPLCTL and *JOBCTL from the relevant user profiles.
