Happens whether I use passive or port mode. Appears the FTP is getting to my customer's i Series because I see the following message below in their Qsysopr. Any suggestions? Message ID . . . . . . : TCP2617 Severity . . . . . . . : 20 Message type . . . . . : Diagnostic Date sent . . . . . . : 02/04/11 Time sent . . . . . . : 13:54:16 Message . . . . : TCP/IP connection to remote system 204.153.216.40 closed, reason code 2. Cause . . . . . : The TCP/IP connection to remote system 204.153.216.40 has been closed. The connection was closed for reason code 2. Full connection details for the closed connection include: - local IP address is 10.1.18.1 - local port is 20 - remote IP address is 204.153.216.40 - remote port is 1243 Reason codes and their meanings follow: 1 = TCP connection closed due to expiration of 10 minute FINWAIT2 timer. 2 = TCP connection closed due to R2 retry threshold being run.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Thinking about ftp protocol (not iSeries exactly) looks like the <b>data-port</b> (number 20) is blocked by a firewall, maybe is only able to open port 21 (connection/command – port).

Try to use Passive Mode (ftp command PASSV), that changes the way of transfer the data (not using the port 20). I’m not sure if iSeries systems support it.

I hope you have a firewall on that machine, because it may not be a good idea to post your IP address. Have you been able to do this before? If so, what has changed?

Please show us output from a FTP session that shows us the error. The output should be obtained by OVRDBF FILE(OUTPUT) to some source file member. Tom
