		<description><![CDATA[EvilG is absolutely correct in using Safe Mode as a starting point for your diagnostic work.  If you CAN get the system to boot in Safe Mode, go into System Properties =&gt; Advanced =&gt; Startup and Recovery and see if the &quot;System Failure / Automatically restart&quot; box is checked.  if it is, UNCHECK it and restart your system.  If the system halts at a BSOD, let us know what the error message is.

If the system is already set to NOT reboot on failure, or if it was and the same issue occurs, (boot to standard WinXP GUI fails, boot to Safe Mode GUI is OK), try uninstalling the antivirus software previously installed and seeing if this resolves the issue.  Obviously, if it does, the A/V software is at faulrt.  If not, there may be one of several other (hardware???) issues at work.
