There are many ways to connect to Oracle from a VB application.
You can use an ODBC connection and/or use ADO (ActiveX Data Objects). You can also use RDO.

If you want to connect via ADO you will need to create an ODBC data source or install the Oracle client software in the client machines.

Examples:

<pre>Dim ConnString as string
ConnString = “Provider=MSDAORA.1 ; Password=myPassword; User ID=myUser ; Data Source = ORCL; Persist Security Info=True”
‘// Where ORCL is the Oracle Service you are trying to connect
Dim objConn as new ADODB.Connection
objConn.open ConnString</pre>

<pre>Dim conn As ADODB.Connection
Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset
Dim txt As String
Dim fld As Field

‘ Open a connection using Oracle ODBC.
Set conn = New ADODB.Connection
conn.ConnectionString = _
“Driver={Microsoft ODBC for Oracle};” & _
“UID=user_name;PWD=user_passsword”
conn.Open</pre>

Have a look at the <a href=”http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms675532(VS.85).aspx”>ADO documentation</a> if you are planning to use ADO for your connection.
