 Connecting to VPN through LAN

I have a Windows Server domain and clients in Windows XP with a LAN. I need to connect to a VPN with a domain running in Windows Server. Can a client PC connect to the VPN and the LAN server simultaneously? They need to be able to access a database in the VPN server, obtain the file path to be able to access them in the LAN without transferring through the VPN.
