How can I connect two PCs directly in same subnet to a router without using a switch? What kind of configuration would this be?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You could use a hub – but those are hard to find any more. You could use a wireless access point, but usually those have switch ports.

Why would you want to restrict yourself from using a switch? They are very inexpensive.

If one computer has 2 nics you could use internet connection sharing.

You can connect two PCs to the router if you have two Ethernet ports but they can not be on same subnet. However, they can be on different subnets and you can use router between the two subnets to access the information on both of them. One thing which you can try out is to disable IP routing on the router “no IP routing” in global config mode and see if you can assign an IP from the same subnet. Hope this helps.
