I have had good results using TYPE 3812, and MODEL 1.

also, for Manufacturer type and model, MFRTYPMDL I usually start with *HP6, and work down the list until I get one that works properly. I find that *HP4 seems to always work. the only exception is color printers. I have not been able to get the iSeries to work with any of the HP LaserJet color printers.

What I usually do is set up a client access workstation printer session, and let it autoconfigure. That usually gives me a device description that I then copy from for setting up a device description that prints directly to the network printer.

If this is a network printer I would use the create out queue command CRTOUTQ with a RMTSYS value of *INTNETADR you will then be required to enter ti IP address of the printer. This way the printer can be reached by other computers (PC's) on the network AND the iSeries any output you want printed from the iSeries simply place it in the outq created above. Also specify STRRMTWTR (1) on the CRTOUTQ command.
