If you can tell us everything about network configuration of your AS/400 and the routing needed to reach it, we can tell you how to connect to it. Without that info, we'll be guessing.

We don't know whether or not access is allowed from outside (it shouldn't be without appropriate security controls that you'd have to tell us about). We don't know how your network firewalls handle iSeries Access ports. We don't know how you might use a modem. (Is point-to-point required?) We don't know anything about your ISP and what protocols it passes. We don't know what services you have started. There is too much that we don't know about your setup.

In general, you'd start simply by starting a Windows command window and typing "telnet myas400.ip.address" on the command line. Don't type the quotes and type the IP address in place of "myas400.ip.address". It will either result in a basic telnet signon panel or it won't. If it does, then the route is available and more useful access can be tested. If it doesn't, then you'll need someone from your AS/400 development group to give you details.

    Tom
