Hello H, I assume that you have 4 years of experience in your computers business. Primarily it is important to understand was it totally hardware, software, or both. Moreover when you say you have a little bit of knowledge of everything, every platform and every technology, then probably you have to assess your knowledge and interest that in these 4 years which is the field or technology/area you gained better knowledge than other areas/ technologies of IT. This itself will answer your question about which stream you should excel your knowledge to get a job in a company. Best way is to look at some of your satisfied customers to whom you provided solutions and try getting a job at one of those places to start your career afresh. From thereon you can sail your boat further smoothly.

Hi H, As a complement to Jaideepkhanduja's words. Something that you might think about is not what you want to do today, but: 1) What do you want to be doing in five years? 2) This might be more bizarre than you think your question is: enumerate the different options you have/want and draw a picture of yourself working on it day by day: the one that you like the best will be your decision. Our career has so many options and they are all attractive, but more important is that you are happy with what you do, that the pleasure your work gives you exceeds the routine. A technical decision is second to this (IMHO). GAC

Gac, I agree with you, just in a blow of emotions, or with the wave of market trends, future track or career track can not be altered, it has to be well thought of.

H, you need to introspect yourself before taking any wise or drastic step as any move in this regard will be going to give you a long term benefit or loss. Good luck.
