Configuring SQL Server to not lock tables when using the SELECT statement

Is there a way to configure SQL Server to not lock tables where I am using the SELECT statement, so as to not have to writte "with NOLOCK" every time I use SELECT?

Change the isolation level of your session from READ COMMITTED to READ UNCOMMITTED.

In Management Studio click on Tools > Options. Navigate to Query Execution > SQL Server > Advanced. Change the isolation level option there to set it as the default.

There is no way to change this setting server wide.
