Background:
oracle_sid=opteldb runs on win2k v9.2.0 (IP=10.201.132.40)
oracle_sid = GLDBWH runs on solaris 2.6 v8.1.7(IP:10.201.135.101)
OEM is configured on win2k (client platform--not the oracle win2k server). I now can access opteldb and tnsnames.ora is configured with opteldb (stored in oracleora92networkadmin folder) on my PC.
Q1: How can i configure the current OEM to access to oracle instances that run on 2 different platforms and versions? The current OEM was downloaded together with the oracle 9.2 client application
Q2: Do i need to also download the oracle client + OEM for 8.1x onto my PC? (this means i will hv 2 OEM's)?
PS: 1 OEM application shld be able to work w versions of oracle on WINNT, WIN, Solaris, etc platforms?

As long as there is SQL*NET connectivity and an Intelligent Agent running on the 8.1.7 box, you should be able to configure the database. What you want to do is do a ‘Discover Nodes’ from the OEM console. I agree that you may want to have the OEM Server Manager for this purpose.
THere is no need to load the Oracle8i SQL*NET client on the Win2k server. SQL*NET 9i should be able to talk to an 8i database.
