A computed field will only save in the document if the document is edited and saved, or if an agent is run against the document to set a value for the field.
If you don’t have rights to edit the document or right an agent to set the value, and if the value is computable based on other values in the document, you can write a view column formula to display the value in the view.
fFnally, I don’t know if this is the issue, but it is possible that the field is a “computed for display” field. A computed for display field will never save in a document. It computes and displays only when the document is viewed in the form.
Hope that any of this helps.
I think you didn’t understand the question. When a field is computed and saved it can be referenced. You can see the field in the document properties without opening the document. In this case the properties can’t be viewed without opeining the document.
Also computed field doesn’t have anything to do with computed for display field. Please read this and any other posting carefully before you answer the question.
