ComPlus 0×80070057 Invalid Parameter error
I am unable to access the WWW (I can ping an IP address but not DNS). The only error I can find is in the comsetup.log which states the I have this error (and it is pointing to an improper drive letter). Help?

Your local domain controller might be having problems, but there are several different Public DNS servers you could try.
Open DNS website is <a href="http://www.opendns.com/">Here</a> and here are two DNS server addresses:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
You could also check <a href="http://www.walltechnet.com/DnsServerList_site/DNS%20Server%20List.htm">This List</a> for other servers.
You will need to change your alternate DNS setting in the TCP/IP properties for your network card to one of the public DNS servers listed.

Also, if you already know the IP address of the website you are trying to hit, you can enter that in the URL line (you had mentioned that you could ping the website address) example: if you enter 87.248.113.14 in the URL line you will connect with the Yahoo.com website. Directly entering the IP address bypasses the need to go through a DNS server.
This may not solve the root problem, but it should get you web access.
