    Never did actual benchmark testing. I think the RPGLE code may be faster if utilizing the built in functions and have the code optimized. 

    You could write 2 small progams and check the timestamps on teh compile joblog to prove which is faster.

    Personally compile times have never been an issue for me.

    Compilation time can vary depending on many factors in the system.  All things being equal RPGLE will take a little longer to compile, as it has a few more tasks to perform: binding modules, etc, but the compilation time difference is insignificant

    Sorry, I never compared these.  It seems irrelivant.  Compiles are such a small part of the process.

    RPG/IV (RPGLE) offers much better coding commands, structure, field names, and structural options.
