One of our technicians is trying to install COGNOS on a PC with I-series driver asking for username and password. No one in the organization remembers the password. Is there a way to query a physical file? If so which file might that be?

It sounds like your I-series driver is actually asking for the username and password to the data source rather than the Cognos application itself. At what stage during the installation of Cognos is the username and password requested?

First obvious thing to try is just change the password for that UserId to be something you know.
