IDSes aren’t really “older technology”, as services like CloudFlare use them to some degree (or else how are they able to detect and prevent such issues?).

Snort used to be decent at this, but Suricata has sort of taken over for me as a IDS/IPS hybrid solution.  You can also use iptables or similar to limit connections and drop or reject anything past that.

    I'm not sure about "intrusion detection systems" as that's an older technology. However,  Incapsula and CloudFlare are two of the big vendors in this space like I wrote about here.
