 Cloning existing database servers to migrate to virtual machine

Can we clone existing database servers with their contents and migrate to a virtual machine? We want to do this for two smaller database servers that are each on very expensive high level machines. One can be repurposed and the other can support both servers as vms.

Yes this can be done. You'll want to stop the database services on the physical machines so that the files are not in use while the clone operation is happening.
