Client base Apps or Web base Apps

I have 5 years of experience in software development in developer 2K/6i. Is there any future in client-server base app? or Switch to a web base app such as 9iDS, 10g, or .Net etc. plz suggest it.

Yes there is lots of future in client apps. Many companies still use them, and will continue to use them for a long time. There are some times where a web app just isn’t the write way to build the application.

However if you can do fact client development as well as web development that increases your usefulness.

    Yes, client apps in general do have a future, but, client-server application development using Developer 6i (specifically) doesn't. It is an old and desupported version. If you want to continue using Oracle development tools, you will have to move to the web (Dev 9i or 10g, Apex, ADF). You can take full advantage of your Dev 6i and PL/SQL experience/knowledge on new versions of Developer.

    I have Client Server App. built in Oracle Form5 and 8i database. The Database crashed. I have restored the datasbase from the dump file and am unable to access the application. How do I configure the form5 application in a new machine, and what are the procedures invlolved in registering. I am geting errors related to cdapi, ci_columns etc. Please guide me. Karthik
