I made a mistake, my As400 model can support the V5R3 maximum and not the V5R4.

Thanks Tom for this precision.
my problem is that i need to have a AS400 emulator which is working on Windows 2008 server to connect to a AS400 Iserie model 170. This modèle can accept maximum the Client Access V5R4. But it seems there are some compatibilty issue.
I don’t know how fix this issue. Adding to that, I need to use Client access ODBC driver to transfer some datas.
I’m searching another emulator but with no real success (ex : Symtrax emulator).

Windows Server 2008 is Windows OS version 6.0, equivalent of Windows Vista (as far as the GetVersionEx function is concerned). Windows 2008 R2 is OS version 6.1.

System i Access 7.1 is the first version supported on Windows 2008.

I’ve known of people getting iSeries Access V5R4 to work on Windows 7 in XP compatibility mode, but V5R2 would really be a stretch. I doubt if anyone had a clue what would be needed to run on Windows 2008 way back when V5R2 was created.

Microsoft isn’t always easy to keep compatible with in a single release of a 3rd-party product. A major issue is that Microsoft made significant changes in how to communicate in a Windows network between Windows 2000 and current releases.
