cisco vpn client makes windows xp 98% busy
hi, we use cisco vpn client v4 to connect to the office. i installed for myself on my private computer under windows xp and everything worked fine. from some day on (perhaps after intallation of a new program) the machine got 98% busy after starting the vpn client and wont't calm down until i issue the command: net stop cvpnd, only closing the client will not suffice. i de-installed und re-installed vpn with the latest release and re-run windows setup with option repair and even made up my mind to install sp2 - same situation. i can easily install vpn e.g. in a virtual machine, where it works fine again, but i cant persuade my real machine to run vpn as it did before. greetings wolfgang

Answer Wiki:
With WinXP, the easiest thing to do IF you have system restore enabled might be to restore to a point before the original VPN client was installed (understanding that any programs installed or updates performed will be lost - data you created will be retained), and then re-install the VPN and any additional programs, testing functionality after each update/install/change.

If you have XP SP2, Microsoft offers a patch for SSL and VPN connections that allows traffic to come through the SP2 security settings (KB-884020). Or try turning off the XP firewall and test that way. Hope this helps.
