hi, can someone help me out how to configure ipv6 on fastethernet n serial interface? thanks.

Answer Wiki

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

enable ipv6 on router (default is turned off)
Router(config)#ipv6 unicast-routing

enable cisco cef
Router9config)#ipv6 cef

then configure interface with ipv6 address
Router(config-if)#ipv6 address ipv6-address/prefix-length [eui-64]

example:
RouterA#configure terminal
RouterA(config)#ipv6 unicast-routing
RouterA(config)#ipv6 cef
RouterA(config)#interface fastethernet0/0
RouterA(config-if)#description Local LAN
RouterA(config-if)#ipv6 address 2001:0:1:1::2/64

find materials on configuring ipv6.

hope this helps :-)

    You need the advanced IP services feature set on a fairly recent version of IOS code to run IPV6. Hint: If it's an older router you happen to have around, there's a good chance you may have issues with the flash or ram size - the IPv6 IOS takes a lot of both !
