Cisco Router 2801 loads in ROMMON mode
Hello There, basically i have a router Cisco 2801 when i turn it ON then it load and come to the ROMMON mode and giving the following error. " %C3600-3-SLOTS: Number of slots in chassis is undefined. %SMC-2-BAD_ID_HW: Failed Identification Test in 0/-1/-1 [1/0] The module in 0/-1/-1 in this router may not be a genuine Cisco product. Cisco warranties and support programs only apply to genuine Cisco products. If Cisco determines that your insertion of non-Cisco memory, WIC cards, AIM cards, Network Modules, SPA cards, GBICs or other modules into a Cisco product is the cause of a support issue, Cisco may deny support under your warranty or under a Cisco support program such as SmartNet." in addition i have been updated the new IOS in it but problem is same. therefore any body have idea what is the suspected fault. When ever a router or Switch boots its does POST "power on self test" which basically looks for the hardware details, and test all the modules installed. the moment the router detects some thing wrong with the hardware it boots into the ROMMON mode.

I’ve got almost the same problem:

%SMC-2-BAD_ID_HW: Failed Identification Test in 0/-1/-1 [7
/0]

The module in 0/-1/-1 in this router may not be a genuine
Cisco product. Cisco warranties and support programs only
apply to genuine Cisco products. If Cisco determines that
your insertion of non-Cisco memory, WIC cards, AIM cards,
Network Modules, SPA cards, GBICs or other modules into a
Cisco product is the cause of a support issue, Cisco may
deny support under your warranty or under a Cisco support
program such as SmartNet.

I think it has something to do with the router cookie, but i’m not sure what is wrong and don’t know how to fix it (jet?).
