Hello all. How can one alter or hide a serial number through MIB configuration? I'm doing a discovery on a network but my reports find that the serial numbers are actually building locations in that state. And if the MIB config can be changed, what would be the command line? Thanks in advance for you responses.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The commands “snmp-server location” and “snmp-server chassis-id” mask real values so if you have the following:

snmp-server chassis-id router_in_new_york

Then your serial number would come out as router_in_new_york

Crazy, I know but its got me before!!
